Conan Exiles Enhanced is out - a free upgrade for everyone with Steam Deck improvements

Update 16:08 UTC - it seems this was not a particularly smooth update, with lots of posts on the Steam forum noting it's not working with Proton on Linux. Some are reporting it needs "vcrun2022" via protontricks as an extra and then it works. Hopefully Valve or the developer will be able to sort that so people don't need workarounds.

Funcom have given the survival game Conan Exiles a big free upgrade with Conan Exiles Enhanced officially out now and it sounds great.

Valve still officially rate it as Steam Deck / SteamOS Unplayable due to anti-cheat, but it does work. With the update Funcom note it has "Strong Steam Deck performance for portable survival". Hopefully Valve will give it a re-test sometime soon.

What does the update actually bring with it? It bumps it up to Unreal Engine 5 to "unify eight years of post-launch content into a dramatically upgraded experience" that includes:

  • Significantly improved visuals across environments, characters, lighting, and effects.
  • Connecting The Exiled Lands and The Isle of Siptah (a separate purchase) into or one single immersive experience.
  • Enhanced performance, targeting 60+ FPS across Low, Medium, High, and Ultra settings on most PCs.
  • Strong Steam Deck performance, ensuring smooth survival on the go.
  • New and improved UI.
  • And other improvements and quality of life additions.
