Feral Interactive have released the specifications required to run DiRT Rally that will release on March 2nd for Linux. See their news here.

Minimum:
Intel Core i3-4130T or AMD FX6300 processor
Ubuntu 16.10 (64bit) or SteamOS (2.0 : 2.110)
8GB RAM and a 1GB NVIDIA 650ti/AMD R9 270 graphics card* or better.

Recommended
Intel Core i7-4770 processor
8GB RAM
4GB NVIDIA 970 graphics card* or better.

*NVIDIA graphics cards require driver version 370.28. AMD graphics cards require MESA 13.0.2 or better.

It's fantastic to see another Feral Interactive port with day-1 Mesa support, so this should keep the AMD crew happy.

I'm hoping to have a review and port report ready for release as usual, so stay tuned for that.

Will you be picking up a copy? I look forward to livestreaming it with some of you! Going to be a fun game to get a tournament going in. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Yeah, means it will very likely run on my RX460.

Guys, you may have answered that question regarding the Ubuntu version yourself just by reading: The game requires Mesa 13.0.2 and the appropriate LLVM package. If you can deliver that + the depended libs you should be alright. Since the Mesa performance heavily relies on the kernel you may have performance regressions by using an older Kernel.

OT: Next Game without Mac support. The list gets longer. Add to this the delayed titles. Seems as if the switch to Metal is anything but smooth. Imagine we had only an obsolete OpenGL stack and a half-finished Vulkan under Linux. Horrible thought. Honestly, I feel sorry for the Mac users.

I have an i5, wonder if it's worth upgrading this year to an i7. I have a GTX 1080.

I don't think it's worth upgrading until you actually need that extra power.

Well, Mesa 13.0.2 is only required for AMD cards, not for NVIDIA so Ubuntu 16.10 (which doesn't ship with Mesa 13.0.2 btw) should not be needed for NVIDIA users, ellie_Feral commented on that on Reddit (source. DiRT Rally should probably works on Ubuntu 16.04, even with AMD if the MESA 13.0.2 ppa is activated. :)

Quoting: TobiSGDSo, if anyone from Feral reads this: does this need the same stupid SSSE3 support that Deus Ex needs?

Nope, DiRT Rally won't require SSSE3. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided needed SSE4.1, by the way.

Sorry, I understood the post in the Steam forums incorrectly. So, does that mean that it will work on Phenom II CPUs?

One more racing game. Awesome, but very expensive. I will wait a discount. Thanks @liamdawe

No probs. Phenom II CPUs won't be supported. So you can give it a go, but at your own risk!
