I spoke to inXile about requesting a Linux review key and they sent me on to the publisher, Techland. The good news is that they've agreed to supply a key. The bad news is that there was no Linux version available before release, so it will take me a short while to get even a basic report out on it.

Still, thank you Techland and inXile for providing a key for me, I am grateful!

BTRE's Note: DrMcCoy asked if the Dynamic Cloth option worked, as the middleware did not appear to support it. I checked for myself in-game and it seems that the devs have, thankfully, sorted it out. The toggle does change the graphical behavior of cloths though it's a somewhat subtle effect unless you're zoomed in close to the characters.

About the game
Torment: Tides of Numenera is the thematic successor to Planescape: Torment, one of the most critically acclaimed and beloved role-playing games of all time. Torment: Tides of Numenera is a single-player, isometric, narrative-driven role-playing game set in Monte Cook’s Numenera universe, and brought to you by the creative team behind Planescape: Torment and the award-winning Wasteland 2. Installed and played about 90 minutes on AMD RX 470 (mesa driver) without issues.

The game looks nice and the story seems interesting, even I've only scratched a bit of it.

Now let's go back into the last castoff body and try to understand "what does one life matter".

Quoting: oldrocker99Still waiting for my key as a backer ...

Huh, shouldn't that just display on the backer portal?

I got my backer key (from Backing Bard's Tale IV) back in September... So not sure what happened with yours. I got the 'Tormented Bard' level.

Yes, it did appear after not being there. Holy cow, but its first fifteen minutes are stunning.

By the way, has anyone but me noticed the similarities between Numenara and Tek'umel, of Empire Of The Petal Throne fame?

Quoting: badberOnly problem was Pulseaudio deciding to stutter like crazy but switching to plain ALSA seemed to help.

ALSA without pulseaudio seems to work better for most games in my experience.

If pulseaudio is stuttering I think you can change some settings in the configs to fix it. Just don't remember exactly what.

I think what you're looking for is:

killall -9 pulseaudio

Repeat as necessary. Or you can just purge your system of the unholy beast and be done with it.

Quoting: AryvandaarAt this point I think we should just let it rest. I have my point of view, which I've explained thoroughly. You have your point of view, which you have explained.

But this is the internet and you're in an argument . . . THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!

You can disable autospawn in pulseaudio's client.conf and then control when it's running with pulseaudio -k and pulseaudio -D

What are your specs more exactly, how many gb VRAM does that card have? These names tell me nothing.

Thanks for your help!

I tried this game for a few minutes (but can't really play games before the weekend). Managed to kill my character in the intro.

Got an achievement for it. :D
