Ballistic Overkill is a fun and cheap FPS that I've put many hours into, it's now free to try for a few days and on sale with 50% off if you decide to keep it. The game has been out for a year now (minus a little time for the Linux build), so they're celebrating.

The developer just put out a fresh update today as well which adds in female skins for the Wraith and Tank classes. They say they're working to add more female skins in a future update too. On top of that, they've also added in 238 new weapon skins, allowed you to equip multiple accessories at the same time and previous seasons crates (their form of free loot boxes) are now permanent drops.

I'm hoping they have some bigger updates planned, as it's a very fun game but it sorely needs a few new maps.

Find Ballistic Overkill on Steam, you've got nothing to lose if you try it out.

While not as fun as it used to be, it's still one of the better FPS games on Linux imho. :)

Is just multiplayer or I can play solo against the IA?

they did double the net res for this game a while back and it helped, but latency is still the reason i have trouble playing it. maybe if i had a server next door or somethin... but i still think something needs to change there, sadly. it is a very fun game otherwise

I recently found this game and have been really enjoying it. Would recommend!

I just played this and I have to say, it's pretty fun.

If I can get at least one of my friends to play, I'll end up buying it too.

Just multiplayer. And one of the more annoying features is the fact that you can't choose which game mode to join. You get put into a random game.

Forgot about this one. Gonna try tonight, rather than a Borderlands 2 bender...

That was one of the reasons I quit playing this game. I was hoping for a single player training mode so you could learn the classes outside of multiplayer.

You can choose what game mode you play you edit the settings select your preferred game mode then you will only ever play that game type also use the browse the community servers and just change game type. As for the classes if you have played a fps in the last 15 years you are good to go sniper/heavy/jack of all trades/damage & stealth class pretty much sums them all up the rest is down to postioning and learning which gun suits your play style.
