Hamster On Coke Games, creators of PUSH, Zenge, Art Of Gravity and more have released their latest puzzle game called Scalak.

Disclosure: Key provided by the developer.

In Scalak, the goal starts off rather simply with you just needing to slot shapes together like a child's toy. Like all good puzzle games, it truly eases you into the mechanics. Gradually, it does start adding more into the mix. You go from simply slotting in fully made circles, to bringing multiple parts together in a single section to make up the bigger shape. It's not overly difficult, but it will give you a number of moments where you need to stop and think.

Quite soon it adds in other elements too, like rotating the main objects you're trying to complete. With the floating pieces not being able to rotate, you need a bit of spatial awareness, since only the main objects can be rotated.

There's no time limits, no movement limits, just you and the shapes. Thanks to the lovely background music, it's all very zen-like in the feeling it gives you. There's 90 different puzzles, so it will give your brain a little work out for a few hours depending on how long it takes you to understand them all.

Absolutely beautiful presentation, with a price of £1.69 you really can't go wrong with it. You can grab Scalak on Steam now if you're in need of some relaxation with a good puzzle.

I thought I'd grab the entire bundle too, saves messing about getting them bit-by-bit, the first couple of puzzles in Scalak are deceptively simple, as you can see in the video, then it gets more complicated, I even managed to confuse myself at one point by trying to get a piece to fit underneath instead of turning the block so the gap was on top.

If you like puzzle games, it's definitely worth having in your games collection.

Well, I just finished it. As with other games by the same devs, they get the early levels just right for learning the mechanics.

The later more complicated levels didn't seem particularly hard, just a step-by-step process of filling in the puzzle. It was rewarding but not super compelling, so I tended to do one puzzle here and there, rather than being pulled to keep playing.

Overall - definitely worth the money (but not addictive).

Edit: It took a total of 2.5 hrs to finish, without any rushing.
