Farming sim 'Harvest Life' is now available on Linux

By - | Views: 10,647

Fancy the simple farm life? You're in luck as Harvest Life from developer bumblebee has just recently added Linux support.

Arriving with the big 2.0 update last week, Harvest Life added Linux support along with Simplified Chinese and Dutch language support plus plenty of bug fixes.

While it might not look as good as Farm Together from Milkstone Studios, it does seem to have more varied content. While it is a farming sim, allowing you to grow various crops and keep livestock too like pigs, cattle and chickens, it also throws in some romance options and some mini-games too. There's a levelling system, to allow you to improve your farming skills.

It doesn't have a lot of user reviews and it's currently sat with a "Mostly Positive" rating, so it's not too bad by the looks of it.

Find it on Steam with 40% off during the Summer Sale.

I'm surprised that they lifted almost the exact fishing minigame from Stardew Valley. And the idea of dungeon adventuring in a farming sim.

Seems like it's trying to be a 3D Stardew Valley
A bit concerned with Steam reviews mentioning bugs in the mini games.
May watch a let's play before i decide.

Killing monsters and crafting are now part of the gaming Constitution since the Minecraft bill was passed :P

Welp, that makes it a no-go for me. I play sim games to get *away* from the killing fields.

I just bought it and like it. I have to say that the fishing is much easier than stardew valley. On the other hand I think combat is much more challenging. Farming is much quicker than in stardew valley as well, so you don't have to put as much effort into it.

I have only played early game in this though, so I have no idea if it changes.

Those elements, and indeed most of the gameplay and even visual style, are directly inspired by the longer-running Harvest Moon/Rune Factory series of games. Stardew Valley's designer has never been shy about admitting that :D

If I was the developer of this game I would be ashamed of shipping graphics this bad. Who is their target audience 3 to 7 year olds?

Mechanically it looks like it incorporated all the misfeatures of Harvest Moon after the N64 version.

Everything is a awful grid and there is no soul, no love and no grit.

Its almost as if a developer saw the millions of dollars Stardew Valley was raking in and decided to make a farm game.

Unlike Stardew Valley this product looks like nothing more than shovelware.

The gradient low poly graphics are hideous and lower the bar by which content should be judged.

If we accept this low quality product we are lowering our expectations on developers.

There may be a demographic who enjoys this but in its current form it definately is not me or those like me who bought SDV.

PS: Trust me, it's much better that they get a reality check and criticism than loose hundreds of thousands of dollars and pile up hundreds of bad reviews on Steam.

It's a miskindness to pretend the problems away.

Also -- enjoy Stardew Valley for the last year+?

Guess who got ConcernedApe into gear to release what many people would call a GameOfTheYear

-- Me.

You're welcome.

Isn't that by the same person? The Itch.io page even says If you enjoy harvesting games, be sure to check out this games big brother, "Harvest Life"and gives a link to the Steam page.
