Trains & Things is a real time multiplayer focused economic strategy game that's currently on Kickstarter. It's being built with Godot Engine and other open source tools, which is pretty sweet.

Here's how they describe it:

Trains & Things is an economic RTS (real time strategy game). We are aiming for a well paced multiplayer focused RTS where you can have games that range from 30 minutes up to a couple of hours. You will be able to play cooperatively or competitively.

If you like games like Sid Meier's Railroads! or OpenTTD then Trains & Things will be chuffing along the same sort of track!

It will support custom maps, it has mod support and cross-platform online play between Linux and Windows. To show they know what they're doing, they even have a demo available to download from itch.io.

They're looking for $80K AU with only around $200 AU pledged, but they do have 26 days to go so hopefully they will be able to gather some more support—quite a long way to go currently.

Find it on Kickstarter.

God the video is awful :
-The voice over is boring use jargon of some freshmen of commerce school.
-The framerate of the video is awful.
Really it's a poor presentation.
