As a huge fan of strategy games, Extinction Protocol has caught my eye. Using a stylish and minimalist visual style, it gives off a very alluring atmosphere.

You'll master the physical controls and explore the wasteland shrouded in clouds for resources. You'll build and defend your shelter against assaults of old war machinery and ultimately push forward to destroy their base.

Inspired by titles such as Kingdom: Classic, Dungeon of the Endless or Darkest Dungeon that pioneered new and streamlined types of experiences, we invite you to push the genre stereotypes together.

Planned to release for Linux, developer Drawblack is currently running a Kickstarter campaign with a goal of $20,000. They have until August 28th to hit their target, with a quarter of that goal already met. I will be shocked if this isn't funded, just look at this:

I will admit to being totally in love with both the style and the sound of the gameplay on this. The further I scrolled down on the Kickstarter, the larger my smile grew. It's not often that I analyse every sentence of a Kickstarter campaign! Every enemy a threat? A modular and physical building system? Persistent progression? I need to play this.

You can find out more on the Kickstarter and also wishlist/follow it on Steam. They do plan to release across Steam, GOG and Humble Store.

This looks amazing, the atmosphere got me hooked! Let alone the huge ship at the end of the trailer.

Do you know if the Beta will be available on Linux or just the release version? I don't see it anywhere on the Kickstarter page.

Is this the sequel to Choplifter from Apple II? :P

I'm surprised there's no word on the music on their KS page, that trailer sounds pretty great even though the game doesn't interest me.

The graphics really do look great.
Someone spent a lot of work to get those backgrounds so polished.
Only thing that worries me is how the strategy might work in a side scrolling fashion.

What specific information would you like to know more about?

Thanks! If you haven't played Kingdom (we're similar but with deeper gameplay) I'd say a bigger difference than the actual camera view is the fact you're playing as a real-world avatar you need to keep alive. While limiting at first, it makes sure you're focused on one thing instead of having to multi-task as much as usual strategies require you to. In other words, you might make fewer decisions with greater impact. Hope that makes sense :)

I don't need anything, just expected to see who made the music and possibly a few more samples like many video game projects do in a soundcloud widget :)
