Title: I need help making SWTOR work on Linux without the default Steam install

Hi, I'm new as an account-haver, but I've been occasionally reading the news!

I'm stuck unable to play SWTOR. As of now, the only known method is to install it via Steam, but it limits you to login-in with the account linked to your Steam account. Neither the Steam support nor the SWTOR/EA support know what that may be, in spite of me giving them even transaction IDs, but that'd beyond point - I am now on my own and the official supports won't help me.

I tried using an old Lutris YAML (https://lutris.net/games/install/3262/view) (now Lutris only offers the Steam install), but it didn't work (the GitHub page was also deleted). I tried running the standalone launcher via Proton, but it won't open. I checked Bottles and Heroic if they have an install script there, but they don't. I checked snap, flatpak, etc - I can't find it anywhere.

I really really want to play SWTOR, but I'm stuck. This isn't the first time, but I figured I may as well try asking here.

Are you sure you need a specific install script? From looking at the spec in the Lutris file the "Gaming" environment in Bottles seems like a good match.

Yes, the launcher won't open.
The Steam version uses a different launcher too, hence why it works for Steam.

So I poked at it a bit (both with Bottles and vanilla Proton) but sadly the stand alone installer seems to be a complete no-go.

It worked at some point, but seems to have broken with an update way back (the filed bugs are years old) and there doesn't seem to be much motivation fixing the non-Steam version 😤

Transferring an existing game installation (from a Windows system or VM) might work, if you're really desperate.
