DXVK continues maturing with another exciting sounding release now available with DXVK 1.4.5, bringing in some performance improvements and plenty of bug fixes.

On the performance side DXVK 1.4.5 now enables asynchronous presentation on all GPUs, which was previously disabled for NVIDIA due to GPU hangs. You should ensure your driver is fully up to date, and try the NVIDIA Vulkan Beta Driver as well. On top of that, this release has a reduction in the amount of thread synchronization around occlusion queries which should improve multithreading efficiency.

The developer, Philip Rebohle, said it could improve performance in Final Fantasy XIV and others that are "at least partially bottlenecked by draw call throughput".

Looking to the stability of DXVK, multiple nice fixes made it in too. Here's the list:

  • Fixed occational hangs on Nvidia GPUs when resizing the game window.
  • Fixed possible crashes when using Wine's DXGI implementation (PR #1240).
  • Re-implemented constant buffer range check for Nvidia GPUs to use storage buffers instead of uniform buffers in order to match D3D11 behaviour.
  • Dirt Rally: Fixed GPU hang on RADV caused by uninitialized UAV counters.
  • Earth Defense Force 4.1: Fixed issue with certain objects and HUD elements not rendering (#1242).
  • Final Fantasy XV: Fixed severe performance degradation when the Geomapping option is enabled, caused by a game bug.
  • Metal Gear Solid V: Disabled loading of OpenVR DLLs to work around a weird issue with all rendering being flipped vertically (#1245).
  • Metro 2033: Fixed rendering issues when Depth of Field is enabled, caused by a game bug.

I assume it's not necessarily DXVK being fixed, but GE's own special Proton build.

As far as I understand, the main reason why Jedi is a pain in the arse is - surprise - Origin.

Origin (halfway) runs with the newest Lutris WINE build again. Until EA breaks it again with another random update, I suppose. Not sure if Jedi could be bought and downloaded directly from Origin? I can't try it though, I haven't bought the game, and will not unless it's confirmed running fine in WINE and/or Proton.

Even if bought on Steam, it still requires Origin to run the game and it states so on the game page.

Unfortunately this is what modern gaming came to, jumping through hoops of launchers to launch the actual game and in case of Linux, it's the very same launchers that prevent a game from running, not the game itself.

Did you try it? I own the game, but so far nothing works.

Ah so i figured out you need the newest Version of Proton GE.. But when i download the file its just 40 mb big. Even the Version before is just 40 mb. Hm what i do wrong?

It works as a standalone client, but with Jedi, it's basically Steam that launches a minimal instance of Origin which then automatically launches the game. This doesn't work out of the box, and needs work (which Eggroll's build has included).

40 mb file you downloaded is a source code you need to compile yourself, AFAIK. Where to get an already compiled (latest) version is a question I want the answer to, myself.

I mean, even the download link from the GOL article two weeks ago no longer work. And the "latest release" link from github leads to version Proton-4.15-GE-1, witch can be downloaded, but very old...
