Supernatural horror adventure 'ASYLUM' gets an Epic MegaGrant

By - | Views: 31,185

Seems like Epic Games continue to open their wallet as shortly after Ore LLC were given one for Ira, game manager Lutris, painting app Krita and now Senscape have announced they've also been approved for an Epic MegaGrant to finish up ASYLUM.

Writing in their Steam announcement, they said that while the game was progessing well their finances were running on fumes. Thankfully they also said clearly there really is no strings to attached and so they're not suddenly going Epic Store exclusive. On top of that, Senscape said once again it will come to every platform originally promised including Linux. Although that shouldn't come as a surprise, as we spoke to them on that only recently.

More about ASYLUM:

From the creators of cult sleeper hit Scratches and the haunting Serena, comes a chilling journey into the darkest depths of your mind. ASYLUM is an ambitious and intricate horror adventure casting you into the hallucinatory setting of the Hanwell Mental Institute, a silent witness to unimaginable atrocities that transpired between its endless corridors.

With influences ranging from Lovecraft to Peter Cushing to Lucio Fulci, ASYLUM has been meticulously crafted with a strong focus on storytelling and atmosphere. Explore countless tenebrous environments, find your way throughout a towering, lifelike mental hospital, and solve a surreal mystery that will haunt you for years to come

They will be making good use of Epic's money! ;-)

QuoteThe grant is money with no strings attached and is happening at the best possible time for us. We're going to use this cash on booze and drugs because we really need them to complete the project...

Hm, can someone give a grant to developers of Eitr, so they could finish the game?

This still seems at least a little sketchy too me, as it comes too soon after straight out bribery. I think they should stick with offering grants to software for a while, and only after they regain people's trust should they offer grants to games.
There past actions were (maybe still are but I stopped following the news) too dodgy and it would take great effort on their part until I can start considering that they have a positive impact (up until now it's still very negative in my eyes).

In any case, good for the devs that really needed those funds to finish their games.

I hope their able to do voice acting for this game, the characters might be a bit bland if its just text.

Quoting: GuestCool for the makers to have gotten this. Can't help having the feeling Epic is trying to buy goodwill of the gamers.
The game itself...kinda looks outdated already to me. But it does ooze atmosphere.

In my humble opinion, they're not exaggerating about Scratches. It wasn't technically the best, but a very memorable experience. So I'm looking forward!

Is an Argentinian game... Be grateful that you have text...

Who knows... Maybe with this money Agustin Cordes can pay a VO work.

I remember that the original Asylum DEMO HAS Voice acting.

Sometimes I think Epic could solve world hunger and some people would still complain...
