Solve circuit board maze puzzles in the demo of R.E.E.L.

By - | Views: 21,192

Love electronics? Love puzzle games? You may want to keep an eye on R.E.E.L., as not only does it combine the two and looks incredibly stylish - it also has a demo up now.

With a plan to release in full next year, it's a while to wait but thankfully the demo gives an interesting slice of what's to come and it's a fun puzzle mechanic trying to get power from one side of a circuit board to another.

The demo appears to work great on Linux and it's quite interesting. R.E.E.L. is supposed to help you learn some of the very basics of electronics, while being simple enough for a younger audience too. It's not really an educational game but a game of solving maze puzzles while taking elements of electronics and circuit boards for the setting.

What they say it will have at release:

  • Electronic maze
  • Puzzles that make your brains work at full power!
  • Over 20 different elements of electronic circuits in the most simplified and complex combinations
  • Over 100 intuitive levels with a gradual increase in difficulty

Try the R.E.E.L. demo on Steam now.

I should give it a look. I'm software developer, but I never really got into the base electr(on)ics...

I'd be curious to actually know how accurate are the depicted electronics. :)

So far I find it strange and frustrating because signals cannot go through LEDs but they emit light.

I'm not sure you will learn anything. I'm also a software developer (with a background in electronics).

I'll will give it a chance but at the moment it is just a maize you find on cereal boxes, just go from end to start and it's done…

Hi everyone!
N-TRI Studio team says you a great thank you for your interest in the R.E.E.L. game!
The first levels indeed are easy but it's just for warming up.
In further levels you will need all of your powers because you will need to take into account many electronic component's logic like npn-transistors, capacitors, etc.

You are right, LEDs worked incorrectly. We fixed it and the demo will be updated tonight.

I'm glad to hear that <3

To be nitpicky, a little arrow on the transistor symbol would be nice and may be some silkscreen to have LEDs symbols as well to be consistent.

I'm only at the transistor part and it is quite nice so far.

For the others, no the components' implementation is not realistic, no the lines are almost never at a right angle, we see vias but we don't know the second layer layout, etc. but it's not an engineering software so it's fine :)

I like the look of the game, but it's too much maze and too little puzzle for my taste. Still looks like a good game for the right audience though.
