It's coming to the end of another week on planet Earth. More games have released, tons have seen updates and it's time for another chit-chat.

You might laugh but a lot of my time has been spent playing Troll Patrol, I've actually found myself somewhat hooked by it. The simplicity of match-3 gameplay with a dash of RPG elements makes for quite a fun brew. I'm genuinely surprised by how fun it actually is and it seems the PC release has gone firmly under the radar with only one single user review on Steam.

I will also fully admit that Planetary Annihilation: TITANS has pulled me back in too. While the addition of a Unicorn commander was a little amusing, I found myself wanting to go back and throw an entire moon at someone. Such a huge RTS, the scale of it is crazy and it's really wonderful to see the newer developer (Planetary Annihilation Inc took over from Uber Ent) keep polishing the experience.

There's also a fair bit of Titanfall 2. I can't tell you how happy I am that it works so well on Linux with Steam Play Proton. It seems the Steam release has given the 2016 shooter an entirely new life, who would have thought? It's repeatedly breaking new player records too with over 11 thousand online in it right now.

Over to you in the comments again: what have you been playing and what are you clicking on across the weekend?

With the 1.16 release, it's back to Minecraft for me. I haven't seen the new nether biomes yet since I've been distracted by other things, but that's the charm of the game: every new world is different.

Quoting: no_information_hereI don't generally buy games to play on Proton, but I made an exception for Okami. I don't think there was a chance of it ever being ported. Proton runs it quite well.
Good to know. I'm not a big fan of JRPGs, but I make an exception for Okami. :) Loved that game on the PS2.

I've been playing Desperados 3 via Proton. A native Linux version is inbound, but I got impatient. The game gets hung up on the loading screen when it tries to play startup videos, but if you just rename (what I did), move, or delete the folder that has the videos then it starts and plays just fine, on my system, at least. Awesome game. If you played Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun, or any of the classic Desperados or Commandos games, then you know what to expect.

Doom Eternal, since they removed Denuvo anti-cheat, it's great, it's dumb and it's fun. Still you have to go offline on Steam to avoid the creation of a Bethesda account. Perfect on latest Proton.

Still toying with Godot, not as much as I should because of the former.

I finished Black Mesa Source. I couldn’t earlier because of crashing. Now thanks to proton I can...

I was also playing BBI’s Homeworld Remastered on GOG. It runs really well, almost as if people knew how to code.

On the side (I’m confined to my laptop atm) some Starcraft 2 (I keep scratching my head as to why only one specific build of wine, with either Esync or Fsync off can run the launcher.
Oh and NBlood being the best game. No questions.

Quoting: WorMzyDungeons 3 - Just started, and it's as wacky as Dungeon Keeper, but doesn't have the same level of charm. The controls are clunky and switching between dungeon and overworld maps is jarring. Still, I'm enjoying it so far, but I'm finding myself being drawn back to War for the Overworld.

.
I found dugeons 2 to be much more polished than 3.

Minecraft mostly thanks to wanting to check out the new stuff in the Nether.

My brother "tricked" me into buying Code Vein, and I'm not disappointed. "Just works" on Proton as well so that is a wonderful plus.

Otherwise I'm still playing Europa Universalis IV, Indivisible (wonderful game) and some Pokémon on the handheld for when it is too hot to sit in front of the computer.

Set up a new retropie system on a pi4 and copied over the rom file of Golden Axe from sega's genesis collection on steam. It's really annoying I had to download the bloated piece of manure (sega's emulation interface) to get to the pearl (the collection of roms), but worth it, certainly at the 1/3 sale price that collection is regularly at.

I've found Retroarch's new runahead mode feature greatly improves the emulation experience, either through placebo or through actually reducing lag.

Also dug up my copy of zeliard. The pi4 is able to handle that game on dosbox+munt mt-32 emulation without hiccups now \(^_^)/

Unfortunately, the darkplaces quake build still needs a bit of maturation before its performance is up to snuff.

I finally got to play Bioshock and now i understand all the hype about.
In the Summer Sale, i bought Call of Juarez Gunslinger that work with zero issues on Proton, Sunless Skies because it looked very interesting. Bastion, and MotherGunShip that looked really fun.
