A city builder that's also a sort-of god game sim and eventually it will also be a multi-planet strategy game? The Universim certainly has a grand plan and a new explainer trailer to help.
I've written about this one numerous times now, personally supporting it quite early on because it seemed so promising and I absolutely love where they're going with it. Thankfully, one of my pet-peeves has been solved a little and this with the early game seeing some love in the 'Melting Shoe' update out now.

So what's new? With crazier fire added, you need a way to deal with it. Now there's some Stone Age Firefighters that run around with buckets of water. There's also a new quests panel UI, to help keep track of everything that's been requested of you, they said to think of it like "a nice little scrapbook that you keep as your world grows up" which is quite a sweet idea. To go along with it, there's a new Fire Quest and a Toxic Lakes Quest and they plan more quests to come.
Graphically The Universim is growing up too. After the big revamp to the world generation in a previous update, they've now tweaked the water system too with a brand new Ocean Shader. This makes lakes a lot more interesting, complete with little waves at the shoreline and all.
The environments got harsher too, with the introduction of Blizzards and Heatwaves to replace the sandstorm that was in previously. They make a bit more sense to go along with the season system. Better get those Forecast Towers and Bunkers built, you're gonna need them.
Another peeve of mine was also worked on: the AI. Crytivo said the rewrote the 'Nuggets Needs AI' from scratch, to make them a lot smarter about what they need to do. So they will actually respond properly to their needs so they should do less standing around while starving.
It continues to be such a beautiful game to look at too, real screenshot candy. It's also shockingly easy to spend too many hours getting lost in it as you just watch everything happen. You can never get tired of seeing the sun rise over your city. Graphically, the only thing I can wish for right now is better anti-aliasing for the edges of the planet when you're looking across so we don't see so many jagged-edges. Apart from that, it's great.
What they said they're continuing to work on but not ready to show yet include: Roads, Organic simulation on planets, Rovers, Rockets, Space Port, Terraforming, Space Trading and Flying Vehicles—all of which are going to expand The Universim in many interesting ways.
