Death and Taxes, a release from early 2020 that later had the code open sourced is now available to pick up on the DRM-free store GOG.

You play the role of the Grim Reaper, although not in the way you might expect. It's a bit of a weird underworld office job. Using your stamp of doom, you get to pick who lives and who dies and you have a quota to fill. Is your boss a bad guy or is this just how the afterlife really is? That's up to you to find out. Made in the spirit of "Papers, Please", "Reigns", "Beholder" and "Animal Inspector" to name a few.

Thanks! Downloaded the demo and I'll try it as soon as possible. I love when they provide demos so I can test the game...

There's a huge price difference between GOG and Steam for me in Brazil. On GOG it's 74.39 and on Steam is 29.99

Edit: They've corrected the price.

Gave it a try, had high expectations but so far it's been disappointing. Mainly because fo the UI. The voice acting is great, it reminds me of one audiobook of the Screwtape Letters, it is a creepy British accent.

But once the game starts there's a letter with instructions and you can't zoom it in and the text is tiny. Then you get the profiles of the people you have to choose and once you select them they zoom in so you can read it - but the text is still tiny. The letters don't reorder once you pile them up, and when they're selected the mouse still picks up what's behind them and the label text isn't contrasted with the background - it's messy.

Then there's the marker of death. It floats and you can place it anywhere you want - but it doesn't go to the background, ever - so you select a letter and start reading it, use the marker - but when you try to put it down it stays on top of the letter - wth?

So, overall it's very unpolished and although the idea of the game is great, it needs a lot of improvements on how you interact with the elements on screen - take a look at the game Papers, please - they do that right.
