Gamatron AB are calling Songs of Syx an epic city-state simulator, blending elements of a city-builder with real-time strategy gameplay and much more. Featured a few times here on GOL now, as it looks ridiculously promising. It's coming with full Linux support, after a successful crowdfunding campaign back in May.

It's something of a grand strategy game, that gradually increases the scale. There's multiple races to deal with, city-building that lets you grow into the tends of thousands, trade with other kingdoms across the lands, massive real-time tactical battles with thousands of units in play and the list of what they have planned for it stretches far. For a small glimpse, see the original trailer below:

The scale of it is almost mind-boggling. Deal with droughts and pestilence, pirates and bandits, the rise and fall of other empires and with each game being different with random generation involved too. It's like they took parts of Paradox Development Studio games and Dwarf Fortress for scale, blended them with the likes of RimWorld and a city-builder to create a thoroughly unique looking mix.

It's getting closer to a more public release too, with an Early Access launch on Steam scheduled down for September 21 so not long to go. There's a demo too, which we helped them test and get setup correctly. It's just a small prototype showing a slice of what to expect, with the upcoming Early Access release having progress quite some ways since. So keep that in mind if you do try it.

You can actually buy it right now on itch.io or try the demo / wishlist on Steam for the Early Access release, which should be happening on September 21.

Without any Googling I am going to assume Gamatron is a Swedish company, is that right?
