The Co-op News Punch Podcast - Episode 24

By - | Views: 11,041

It's been a little while since the last episode, so it's time for a fresh set of ranting and discussion in the GamingOnLinux Co-op News Punch Podcast. As before, it's a casual and frank chat between two friends (myself) and GOL contributor / Linux livestreamer Samsai on all sorts of somewhat Linux related topics.

Here's a few bits of what we talked about:

  • YouTube-DL got DMCA.
  • Owncast - a self hosted livestreaming solution
  • Proton/Steam Play discussion
  • The hilariously bad take on streamers from a Stadia developer.
  • Questions from listeners.
  • Mystery of the crashing RX580.
  • What games have we been playing: Ziggurat 2, Metro 2033 Redux, Superliminal.
  • A quick mention of recent releases.

Having worked with hardware designs and manufacturing for [redacted], strange hardware issues are actually really common. And that hardware wasn't as complex as a modern GPU, or subject to quite the same heat management (certainly there were heat problems, but nothing so disastrous). Just imagine what firmware and hardware engineers go through to identify, isolate, and work around weird & wonderful errata.

Enjoying the news punch, and particularly enjoy giving supporting reasons why you think one way or another. Always makes for much more interesting listening. Keep it up!

Wouldn't it be nice if all the problems with AMD graphics cards were that simple to fix...
