Take down a resurrected Maggie Thatcher in this upcoming Doom II campaign

By - | Views: 19,694

Yes that's right, Maggie Thatcher has somehow escaped from Hell in Thatcher's Techbase, a new Doom II campaign that has been announced that will be free to grab on September 24.

Developed by 3D: Doom Daddy Digital this will be a very British take on the whole Doom thing that I can't wait to jump into with a cuppa. Might need a few biscuits too as apparently the UK is the 10th circle of Hell - well it's not wrong. It will be provided as a standard WAD file so it will be playable across any system that can play it. The developer mentioned compatibility with PRBoom, DSDA-Doom, ZDoom and GZDoom.

The trailer mentions it will have support for five difficult levels, co-op and deathmatch support, gamepad support and an original soundtrack too.

It will need a copy of DOOM II which you can get from GOG and Steam.

Hmm... Maybe Magnavox Odyssey, but without any of the overlays?

Usually they play Call of Duty and Bioshock (I kid you not).

Its at times like this, when folks disagree, I like to quote the late great Mr. Rogers:

"I like each and every one of you just the way you are."

The only thing to hate in this world is hatred itself and that which perpetuates it.

It's you I like.

Quoting: LanzI know it's popular online to be a rabid leftist, but Thatcher was a remarkably talented woman who deserves our respect, not mockery. This is tasteless.
I really hope that comment is an attempt at satire.

Which one? Mine (right above yours)?
No it's not; what am I, Dinsdale from the Piranha Brothers? I think the Cyberdemon deserves better.
Why would you think it was about you when I quoted someone else?

Why? What i know Thatcher is one of good politicians (not best possible, she has been to much on lift side of spectrum). Problem is leftist propaganda blaming her for result of leftist policy.
Okay you have to be trolling.

No, i just have different political ideology.

“Margaret Thatcher is back from Hell… and the lady’s not for returning!”

As a kid in the eighties, I was terrified of Maggie Thatcher and Grotbags! There's no way I'm playing this with the lights off!

Doom-based games are, almost invariably, really good. They're like pizza. Even the worst one, reheated with a hangover the following morning, is still better than most other things.

And Thatcher’s Techbase does not look like a bad Doom-based adventure, at all. It looks like a really coherent and well-put-together one, in fact, combined with an admittedly tongue-in-cheek narrative that many of us (particularly from the North of England, Scotland, and Wales) would probably find more horrific than the idea of an actual demonic invasion from Mars.

It’s also free-to-play, but the game’s developer would like you to donate to some worthwhile charities that Thatcher definitely wouldn’t have approved of, like Stonewall and the Hillsborough Justice Campaign.

Is interesting what this type of content brings... For me I tend to search more about the topic why she is the devil ? Here in South America she is the monster of the Malvinas War (Falkland Islands) in some parts, and in other was the person that made possible to buy advanced medical stuff and technology (lifted the arms and technology embargo in Chile).
I have read her Wikipedia after watching The Crown (Very entertaining series! Almost historically accurate) and still can't decide what to think about her. I have seen some Ken Loach films about England and after leaving a while next door of England I have to say that like life she is gray, will have people that love her and ones that hate her, and a lot of people in the middle.
I really hope that on the project page have a section that say why he thinks that, if that was the case at least could learn another perspective of what happen to someone.
