Check your Steam Library against Steam Deck compatibility easily

By - | Views: 53,905

Want to know how much of your own Steam Library is currently compatible with the Steam Deck? Well, there's now a website dedicated to doing exactly that.

It's called CheckMyDeck (great name) and all you need to do is grab your SteamID, enter it and it will do all the work for you. You can find your SteamID easily using this other website. The main thing to keep in mind though, is that compatibility is an ever-changing thing, with Valve adding to the list almost daily. We mentioned only a few days ago how Verified + Playable together hit 520 games, well as of right now it's already jumped up to 591!

As for CheckMyDeck, it's pretty good actually. Giving you a full list with links to each store page, along with a very tidy looking pie to give an overall score:

A slice of my own status right now.

Another big thing to remember is that a game being Unknown doesn't mean much - it just hasn't been tested yet, and so it might end up being a flawless experience.

In the mean time, Valve themselves released their own page showing compatible games: https://store.steampowered.com/steamdeck/mygames
This way you don't need to make your Steam Library public.

Quoting: EikeI'm looking forward to see the coloured section grow. :)

14% playable+ now, rising almost every day. 4 games "Unsupported", two of which should go to at least Playable later on (Outlast and Surviving Mars).

Up to 27% for me, with just Ultimate Chicken Horse and Supporting* Surviving Mars unsupported. I'm hoping UCH gets supported soon, since literally one of the first things that popped into my head upon hearing the Steam Deck announcement was taking it around to friends' houses with a few controllers to play a few rounds on the TV as a party game. It runs natively (and fine) on Linux and already handles controllers, so I'm not sure what the hold up might be, but at least the devs have continued to support it quite well so I hope it'll be fixed soon.

*Genuine Freudian slip!

You can see it e.g. on the store page, Steam Deck compatibility, more information => Valve is working on the compatibility. (I wonder what that might mean. I would understand better if the devs are working on improved Deck compatibility of native games.)

How is 'Surviving Mars' not supported?

I have the 'GOG.com' version - which natively supports Linux-based operating systems - and a quick check of the 'Steam Store' page shows that it is listed as natively supporting Linux-based operating systems in that store, also... Even ProtonDB lists it as natively compatible, and there is the occasional comment from somebody that has tested it on the Steam Deck directly, confirming that it works on the 'Deck too.

The reason is given on the page, something along the lines of "Valve is improving Steam Deck support of the game" - whatever that actually means. But for sure it's gonna be Playable of Verified later.

It's probably something trivial, like the controls or something... I was watching a video from @TheLinuxGamer on Odysee a week or two ago, and he was saying that one of the reasons a game may not be considered "verified" is because of the control setup.

That should move it to "Playable", though. Well, Valve... You never know with them. :-D
