By - | Views: 34,531

We're now three weeks away from the official release date of the Steam Deck handheld Linux gaming machine. The good news is that Verified titles have been growing nicely!

What we're seeing shape up here, is easily going to be the most incredible launch line-up of games for anything - ever. Place your bets, what do you think the total number of Deck Verified titles will be on February 25 when the Steam Deck hits the official launch?

This is only those titles fully Verified too as there's also now 111 titles that are marked as Playable like Factorio, RimWorld, The Witcher 3, Deep Rock Galactic, Valheim, Morrowind, Path of Exile and the list goes on. Some of the reasons being text too small, manual graphics settings adjustments needed, launchers, spotty gamepad support and so on. We expect many of the Playable titles to improve or even get Verified before the Steam Deck launches.

Have you decided on the first game you will be loading up yet?

That's an interesting SteamDB page BTW...

Over 20.000 Linux games on Steam now. I remember well when I wrote an article about number 1000.

Quoting: melkemindKind of funny to see Rocket League on there when it's no longer even available for sale. Valve is definitely "being the bigger man" in their conflict with Epic.
There's still around 50000 people playing Rocket League on Steam every day. And Valve doesn't really have a conflict with Epic. It's Epic that has a conflict with Valve.

of course they want to play it on the deck

it is more surprising, that just hitman is on the list. 2+3 are basically the same game and but i wouldnt even play hitman 1. i would play it within hitman 2 with the new mechanics

Hitman is natively on Linux:

I haven't played it yet, but seen some gameplay videos. It looks absolutely hilarious.

... And that's actually a problem. Hitman runs better on Proton, there is a sound issue with the native version. The sounds behind you are not audible. Not optimal for a stealth game. You only hear the ~180 degrees in front of you.

So they should override with proton on this one. And I doubt they have...

1000 Verified games for launch! Because they can, it would be a record for any hardware launch that would be very hard to match for quite a while, and it would make a really nice headlines.

I am tracking progress since only Sept 2021 and still it is amazing. (BattlEye and EAC got supported and now some borked top 10 games may be playable) When I saw Deck launch was on December February, I thought that Valve couldn’t make it ready in that time period but now... They were serious when they told “All your library will be on the Deck”. It looks like all Steam top 100 except PUBG: Battlegrounds (and perhaps Halo games and Naraka Bladepoint) will be playable on Linux in a few months.

Or I am too optimistic.

Quoting: mtFirst game I'll be trying, just for the sake of it, Minecraft.
Thanks to the LambdaControls mod, you can play Minecraft Java with a Controller, and it's often better than playing Minecraft Bedrock with a Controller, simply because the mod is so modular and configurable.

Tho if there will ever be a mod that supports Gyro controls for Minecraft, that would be the non plus ultra.
You don't need to mod Minecraft if you're launching it through Steam. Steam gets you controller support automatically.
