By - | Views: 11,395

Want to go exploring outer space this week? Humble have you covered with The X Universe Collection Bundle. Some of the most in-depth single-player space sims around, Egosoft have a lot of fans.

In the bundle you will find:

  • X4: Foundations
  • X4: Cradle of Humanity - 50% Coupon
  • X4: Split Vendetta
  • X3: Terran Conflict
  • X3: Albion Prelude
  • X Rebirth
  • X Rebirth The Teladi Outpost
  • X2: The Threat
  • X: Tension
  • X: Beyond The Frontier

See the full bundle if interested. Doesn't seem like any are rated for the Steam Deck yet, but most of them have Native Linux builds from X2 onwards and work quite well on Linux.

Very good games, X3 and X4 work well on linux. Especially X4 since it has native port!

X4 has worked pretty well on the Steam Deck in my experience! You can expect about 30 FPS in space stations, but 60 pretty much non-stop in Space!

X4 did reasonably well when TDP limited as well in my testing, with settings tweaked some. Definitely playable on Deck, that's for sure.

And it seems that Egosoft have gotten their hand on at least one Deck too (shown off sitting on the X4 menu during an interview with a streamer), so they're definitely looking to improve things - hopefully they'll start getting some Deck verification stamps soon.

There's a fresh episode of Space Game Junkie where the guest is Egosoft Co-Founder Bernd Lehahn. They also talk a bit about X4 on the Steam Deck.

Actually, X2 had a native Linux port (LGP) that worked amazingly good.
X3:R also had a native Linux port (LGP), which worked just as well, but a DRM feature that died with the company.
X3:TC and X3:AP, X:R and now X4 were ported by Egosoft themselves and offered in Steam, and all still work out of the box offering Windows like performance. (Sometimes even better).

In short, minus X3:R that had a good port with broken DRM, most of Egosoft games work under Linux out of the box.

I still think they are all great games. Except for Rebirth, it was okay. :|

Finally getting to try X4 for "cheap"! I always wanted to try it but 30 Euros for X4 alone was always too much for me :(

LGP released/sent the keys to valve to redeem via steam, That's why I have X3:R on steam.

Just to point out in that in the bundle X3:R seems to be missing Which is a shame as that's still the best one IMHO

How did you get them keys? from LGP?
At least when I used it, LGP never used Steam.

The original key from LGP activated through steam as thats what they did when they folded. I forget the guys name that let us know. It was a good few years ago now.

To be frank it could have been egosoft, no clue which way round it was done now.
