Vampire Survivors, a simple game that exploded in popularity is set for the big 1.0 release soon and so the price will be rising next week. This game works great on Linux with Proton and is Steam Deck Verified.
Currently only £2.09 / $2.99 / €2.39, it's an absolute steal for what it is. They haven't said how much it will increase to but they did say it will happen on September 21st so you should really just go and buy it now. Seriously, buy it. You will thank me later for all that free time you no longer have as the hours disappear.
They also released a small update to keep you going before the 1.0 that includes:
- 1 new achievement: Reach Level 99 with Poe.
- The last Arcana: XXI - Blood Astronomia.
- 1 new "weapon" : this is more like a minor gameplay feature.
- 1 new SECRET.
Update trailer is below:

Speaking of the steam reviews... I should probably buy it immediately, no? ;-)
Quoting: pbTo each their own, but my kids bought this game a couple months ago, based on the hype, and from what I see, they only played ~1h each before getting bored. Personally I did two runs and it didn't appeal to me at all.Well, not every game is for everybody. VS is a very specific niche, and in my case I got over 80h playtime for the ~2€.

Imho VS gets more fun after you managed to hit the 20 min mark and successfully evolve a weapon. Reaching the powerspike when everything comes together is satifying.
Quoting: WorMzyAny chance they'll support a Linux release? ;)They attempted a Native Linux build and had numerous problems with it.

Works perfectly fine on Intel igpu.
Quoting: ScytaleI absolutely agree. The first runs are short and may be frustrating some people, but because the game grants you exp anyway and you level up, there is a certain point it will simply tick and become incredibly satisfyingQuoting: pbTo each their own, but my kids bought this game a couple months ago, based on the hype, and from what I see, they only played ~1h each before getting bored. Steam/steamapps/common/Vampire Survivors/launcher.sh?
Forcing Proton (tried Experimental, 7, and 6) I get greeted by an io exception. Same my Arch and my Fedora notebook.
Well, at least it works great on my Steam Deck.
Quoting: michaAnyone else getting greeted by Missing Executable:Had this on first start as well. But forcing 7.0-4 made it work for me.

Quoting: michaAnyone else getting greeted by Missing Executable:Game does have a Linux build but for some reason it has this issue by default. Joining to public beta branch of the game on Steam fixes this.

So by default it tries to use Linux build but it doesn't work by default.
As for why this is not an issue on Deck, Deck defaults to Proton.

Launcher.sh exist in here which is most likely what joining to public beta branch directs to.

Quoting: dpanterLooks like the engine upgrade won't make into v1.0 on October 20.Good to know it's coming, I skimmed the news and Native Linux support was last mentioned back in February as "still being worked on".
