Marvel's Midnight Suns gets an update to help Steam Deck

By - | Views: 28,028

Marvel's Midnight Suns is a great strategy game from the developer of XCOM, and now it should actually much better on Steam Deck and Linux desktop.

Two major problems were broken Cloud Saves and a crash for plenty of people at certain points, with both now hopefully solved! Always nice to see such major titles getting some special attention for my favourite gaming platform and the stability fixes specifically should also help players on Linux desktop too!

In the latest update they noted this:

General

  • General performance improvements
  • General stability fixes

Steam Deck:

  • Steam Deck Virtual Keyboard fixes
  • Steam/Deck/Link save fixes, including cloud syncing
  • Steam Deck stability fixes

Definitely looking forward to playing more of it, although I really hate that it has micro-transactions, that still feels gross. They already have a Season Pass, which actually gives you everything extra with the micro-transactions to buy extras individually, it just feels completely stupid to have both and confuse players. Aside from that, I don't have a lot to complain about, the battles are a whole lot of fun.

Deadpool just arrived recently too:

Marvel... These people tend to be superheroes in real life too. Helping the ones in need, helping Linux gaming community to make them grow stronger!

Hail Hydra! (ooops, I guess I wrote this on the wrong side)

So nice to keep reading about companies modding their products to work on the Steamdeck (and thus Linux). This is the kind of phenomenon we always wanted to see and I at times have to pinch myself that it's really happening. Google starting a gaming service with Linux as the backend wasn't able to accomplish this, but Valve has. Amazing....

Well, Hydra, with their strong need for security, surely would be smart enough not to use a closed source OS with probable government-sponsored backdoors in it. So they're probably totally Linux people.

Surely you mean FreeBSD people.

I actually liked the game when I first saw it, but the dealbreaker for me was Denuvo as protection with only 5 activations!

It's sad to see good game being killed by something that probably won't work in few years.

Awww, my YouTube video on how to work around and fix the cloud save bug was getting such good mileage. :P Oh well, at least I have taught a few newbies how to make symlinks, so not all lost.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this game. It starts out weak, with a drawn out tutorial and too much "Abbey" content. But it hooked me, I've played close to 200 hours already and it's easily my GOTY.

Glad to see Firaxis recognizing the Steam Deck, it's a great game on it
