Players will be tasked with collecting crystals in order to progress through various alternate dimensions featuring increasing difficulty and new enemies that didn't appear in the main game - including an 8-bit one inspired by the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles titles created by Konami for the Nintendo Entertainment System in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Additionally, a new power-up will make it possible to temporarily morph into and play as popular enemy characters such as Bebop and Rocksteady, and, of course, Shredder himself! This is in addition to the previously-announced playable character, Miyamoto Usagi. A number of non-playable cameos for fan-favourites from throughout the franchise's history have been confirmed, too.

From the official blurb;

This all-new game mode will radically change your in-game experience with travels across the multiverse, hordes of enemies to defeat and multiple rewards to earn. Each dimension will challenge you and allow you to get and bring new pixel-perfect vibes to your radical adventure with Leo, Donnie, Raph and Mikey.

TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge - Dimension Shellshock DLC will include:

  • NEW playable characters including Usagi
  • NEW game mode: SURVIVAL MODE
  • NEW flashy alternative color palette options
  • NEW bangers composed by the one and only Tee Lopes
  • NEW easter eggs to spot in-game and more

An in-depth 11-minute video with developer commentary is available on YouTube.

The DLC can be wishlisted on Steam here, and the base game is available to buy now on Steam and Humble Store.

Yep, that's the one! I'm still absolutely delighted by that - Usagi Yojimbo is my favourite comic series of all time.

Oh man I remember when played TMNT 1 on Nintendo 8-bit console. I loved the game very much back at then. Lot of sewers, buildings and classic enemies and it was nice to have a Turtle overrun by road roller. It turned him into a jelly in an instant. And that was really unfair to a turtle to die by single stroke! Btw my favorite character in the game was Donatello whose nick name among my friends was a Donut. Really funny ...

Wrong decade. She kick punches with the rest of them now. (And is actually really fun to play.)

I love how they even put this in the newly-made animated intro.
