Cyberpunk 2077 gets the 2.0 update on September 21st

By -

CD PROJEKT RED have now revealed the 2.0 update for Cyberpunk 2077 releases on September 21st, plus there's a new cinematic trailer for Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty DLC that releases September 26th.

It's currently rated Steam Deck Verified, and works great on desktop Linux, but will that change with the huge upgrade and DLC? Only time will tell, hopefully there won't be many issues but I'll be taking a look at the update at release to see how it runs and let you know.

Some of what's coming to the 2.0 update includes an overhaul to the perk system, vehicle combat, an updated police system, various AI improvements, and much more. It's going to make it feel like a very different game. Check out the new 2.0 update trailer below:

Here's the cinematic trailer for the Phantom Liberty DLC which adds in a whole new area with a new story, a new skill tree and much more:

The developers also released a new build planner, since it's such a big overhaul so you can plan ahead as you'll be given a one-time chance to redistribute all your points when you jump in after the 2.0 update lands.

Are you looking forward to them both? Let me know in the comments.

You can pre-order the DLC on SteamHumble Store (GOG Key) and GOG direct.

I actually ended up enjoying Cyberpunk 2077 a lot, it is flawed, yet definitely big and important game (and I found story actually having more good bits than bad ones). My only gripe was however artificial limits of NPC combat prowess (they are limited to certain hacks, while you have all of them, they can be permanently cornered easily with weapon and hack combos, etc) thus late game after you have acquired all upgrades you want feeling too easy, I wanted my badass weapons to feel badass but with hope that I would still sweat a lot while using them :)
While buggy mess at launch, overall Cyberpunk 2077 continues CDProject Red championing advancement of open world/RPG systems, like spawning interesting encounters, world building, dialog system that does not force eye contact between you and NPC, and so on and so forth.
I hope their next big RPG game is more planned, slimmed down but with even more improvements on systems they have developed for Cyberpunk 2077, original and 2.0.

Quoting: Linux_RocksSean Connery for me, then Roger Moore. Though that isn't a knock against Roger Moore.

Roger Moore thought so too, actually.

Quoting: PublicNuisanceI originally was hyped for Cyberpunk. What I wanted was a darker single player story based experience. What they seem to put out was an open world Saints Row/GTA type game with bugs galore. Will this update give me what I wanted ?

That sounds like Deus Ex. I wish they made a sequel to Mankind Divided. I just finished it recently, and it's a very well written cyberpunk story.

I enjoyed CP2077 game itself. It has some flaws, but overall the story is pretty good. Looking forward to the expansion.
