By - | Views: 26,173

Lunar Ray Games are making a sequel to their positively reviewed Timespinner from 2018, with Timespinner 2: Unwoven Dream now on the way and it looks great. Our contributor BTRE gave some thoughts on the original and enjoyed it.

"Auria, a retired war hero, awakens to the ominous stirrings of the catastrophic Unwoven Dream. Amidst the turmoil, her son runs away to prove that he is the destined hero who can forestall the impending collapse of reality. Driven by a mother's love, Auria embarks on a quest to safeguard her son, only to unveil the undeniable truths behind the prophecies and her pivotal role in staving off an irreversible cataclysm."

The first game was IMO one of the best, if not the best, indie metroidvanias ever made, so I think this one will be good too.

All the high-pixel art and numbers/text gives some Demon's Crest vibes to this game. Nice.

Added Timespinner and Timespinner 2 to my wishlist.

Whoa, I must say it's a great surprise! I really enjoyed the first one (don't remember if it was before or after I discovered SOTN). GREAT news even if it really looks like the 1st.

Timespinner was a pretty fantastic game, though there were a few spots that felt as though content was cut, which was a shame. I've been getting notifications about the dev streaming his work on the sequel on Twitch on my phone for years now, so it's awesome to see it finally get announced officially! Interesting that we're playing a different character this time.

Yeah. Although, I assumed it was more of 'kickstarter overreach'. My impression of the game was that they promised a ton of features in crowd funding, and then had to deliver them all. Which they did, but just didn't make enough game to actually need all those features in a useful way.

They had things like crafting, levelling up the orbs (weapons), and elemental weaknesses, dodge mechanics, etc. But, it didn't really utilize those things. The game was generally easy enough that you could just wail on enemies with any orb type, not worry about enemy weaknesses and tank all the damage you took without dodging, and still win.

If they manage to refine all their mechanics, then the sequel could be a great game.
