Old-school immersive sim Core Decay looks great in the new trailer

By - | Views: 25,185

Now this looks exciting. Taking inspiration from the likes of Deus Ex, the old-school atmospheric immersive sim Core Decay had a new trailer during Realms Deep 2023. Coming from Ivar Hill, Slipgate Ironworks and 3D Realms, last I heard it will have Native Linux support too.

More about it: "The year is 2089. For decades past, the availability of natural resources and livable conditions has declined to the point of societal collapse. Nations have made room for city-states and corporations, and the planet is on the brink of an ecological collapse that will leave nothing left alive.

During mankind’s last breath arises a shadowy network of conspirators, bent on saving the human species using any means necessary – even if it means sacrificing all it means to be alive.

Follow the trails of a mysterious organization across a dying Earth, in an atmospheric singleplayer adventure spanning seven locations across six continents."

Went to put this on my wishlist and... it's already on my wishlist. Guess I'm quite interested in this one.

The talky and sneaky options are a refreshing change of pace for the genre. If the story is decent, I'm definitely interested. If Linux support comes through that is.

Very much intending to support Linux! Whether that is confirming the game works well under Proton or providing a fully native client remains to be decided, but I exclusively run Linux myself so the game by definition needs to run well under it :)

Warren Spector has a series of blog posts about what immersive sims (“Player Powered”) mean to him. They're quite detailed, and worth a read if you're interested in that kind of thing.

Nice! Personally I'm hoping for native simply because that's how I keep my wishlist to a reasonable size, but either way is definitely better than no Linux support at all.

Gives me Deus Ex vibes.
Hope the worldbulding and story match the mechanical polish.
