Streets of Rogue 2 is going to be massive and I'm hyped

Developer Matt Dabrowski recently did a fresh developer video on the upcoming Streets of Rogue 2, and it's really going to be massive.

What is it: Streets of Rogue 2 is a crazy, immersive RPG sandbox set in a vast randomly generated open world where freedom and fun are dialed up to 11. Fight, sneak, hack, farm, build, steal, or talk your way to power as you try to topple a corrupt president in countless possible ways – solo or with friends.

The sequel is going to be a much bigger game, with the developer mentioning in the latest developer video below that even the default map size is "meant to be like a scaled down version of a very small country, which still ends up kind of enormous". Dabrowski then talks a bit about how that's actually done using various algorithms for random generation, a fun look behind the curtain. It all sounds pretty complicated but Dabrowski does a really fun job of breaking it down into the basics to show how the world map is actually built, and shows a little on how you'll be building your own stuff.

The first is one of my favourites to play with others so I really can't wait to play Streets of Rogue 2. It's due out sometime later this year. Will you be picking it up?

Absolutely picking this up, assuming it has Linux support.
Can't wait to sink in dozens, hundreds of hours into the game only to never actually finish it because it's just big and great and fun.

Devs and games like these are such a blessing, because they create something unique and special by taking all sorts of risks and experimenting with ideas.

When it's out, I wonder for how long I'll forget about other games entirely.

Certainly looking forward for the sequel. Loved the first one.

I've bought very few games in the last few years simply because of my backlog but this is going to be a gem and a must have!

One thing I like about the first game is you can just pick it up for a quick game as well as get sucked in.

I quite enjoyed watching him explain his development steps. Looking forward to the final game.
