CoreCtrl is a useful application giving you a full GUI for adjusting your CPU and GPU profiles on Linux, and the latest release has expanded the hardware features supported.
You can have it activate certain profiles when launching specific applications, games or have things be more manual with you adjusting fan curves, performance profiles and more.
New features in version 1.4.0:
- Implement resizable graph and sensors regions. Both regions are configurable by dragging their split handles and the sizes persist between sessions.
- CPU usage sensor.
- Intel CPU temperature sensor for
coretempdriver.- Botan 3 compilation support. Botan 2 is still supported. Botan 3 takes precedence over Botan 2 when both versions are installed in the system.
- Manual profile activation at application startup using the command line argument
-m, --toggle-manual-profile.- Automatic and curve fan controls for AMD RX 7000 series.
- CPU Energy Performance Preference control. This feature is only available for hardware with active governing support and can be accessed by setting the CPU frequency scaling governor to
Powersave.- Swedish translation.

That should help to figure out why my system sometimes turns off on high load ever since I added a 7600 GPU. Although I suspect it is a shitty PSU that is causing that and not actual over-heating.

I use this on at least 4 computers, my biggest complaints would be that fan speed doesn't adjust unless the app is open all the time, so one of the SFF computers gets really hot, then I notice it or reboot and the fan goes wild.
Another complaint would be that it doesn't always start, AFAIK I symlink the desktop launcher to `~/.config/autostart/` and most of the time it works but some of the time it doesn't.
I'm not sure the status of the program, but it would be really great if the App did all the actions through a Systemd service or Daemon or however that could run all the time in the background and auto-start.
They've done a great job though, and I appreciate their work, and also recently I heard of LACT -- a AMD voltage and sensor control panel -- I could almost see several projects like these combining someday into a more robust solution.

It's a really nice program. Works well with my RX 6800 even though it recognizes the card as a RX 6900 XT
Too bad the autostart + start minimized doesn't work for you. Will try it this evening. "Set and forget" would be nice with this application.

I used to use Core Control but got a little tired of waiting for my 7900XT to be fully supported. I recently gave LACT a try and it's been flawless so far and easier to setup. Full fan control and overclocking. I use it with Fedora 39 KDE.
