With a setting that not many games explore, Detective Dotson is a fresh adventure from Masala Games that's out now with Linux support. India is brought to life with some lovely pixel artwork in this new release, it's really quite eye-catching. Note: key provided by the developer.
Not a point and click adventure though, this one is a side-scroller where you go through fun little quirky cases that eventually builds up to the darker main overall theme of what happened to your Father. This is a great little casual adventure for people to dive into.
One that gets you to think a little as you build up your evidence board on cases, but not overwhelming and not particularly difficult either. It's all about connecting the dots together, paying attention and exploring a bit of modern India. Check out the launcher trailer:

Play across 4 cases and 4 mini-games, that will see you through around 5 hours of gameplay. It's not too short, and doesn't overstay its welcome, feels just about right.
Speaking about the game and the setting, the Game Director mentioned:
Storefronts are filled to the brim with a dime a dozen pixelated pleasures so why should you give ours a try? In a word: home.
You see, 18 percent of the world lives in India — our home. It’s the most diverse and interesting place on the planet. But, you really don’t get to see it in games much do you? We’re pretty much non-existent. So we took it upon ourselves at Masala Games to fix that.
We want to bring our home to you.
India is often (incorrectly) shown as poor or ancient, in media.
We want to tell stories from modern India — and represent our home more appropriately.Detective Dotson is a love letter to India! Welcome to our home.
Interestingly, they even released an animated movie too (English subtitles), which takes place before the game to give some extra context. You don't need to watch it but I thought it was a pretty fun addition to the world.
