Thomas "GloriousEggroll" Crider has released GE-Proton 10-1 bringing over all the changes from Proton 10 Beta to this community-made compatibility layer, along with lots of specific game fixes for Linux / SteamOS + Steam Deck.

Want to learn more about all the different Proton versions? Be sure to read my guide. And my guide on how to install GE-Proton. I'll repeat though for people who don't click: you should stick with Valve's own normal Proton unless you need something specific from GE-Proton.

In the GE-Proton 10-1 release the main Proton updates are:

  • GE-Proton rebased on top of Valve's Proton 10 Bleeding Edge.
  • Wine-Wayland has been enabled and patches from upstream wine backported for it. YMMV (Your mileage may vary). Thanks Etaash-mathamsetty for the backporting as well as the wine-wayland specific patch fixes for various games.
  • Dualsense controller patches from ClearlyClaire https://gitlab.winehq.org/wine/wine/-/merge_requests/7238 rebased (thanks loathingKernel).
  • FSR patches rebased (thanks loathingKernel).
  • Nvidia Reflex low latency patches rebased.

And then the Protonfixes, various tweaks to get specific games working better:

  • Marvel Rivals EGS fix added (thanks termdisc).
  • Fix added for The Testament of Sherlock Holmes (thanks UsernamesAreNotMyThing).
  • Fix added for Borderlans: The Pre-Sequel (thanks loathingKernel).
  • Fix added for Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered (thanks Reilley64).
  • Fix added for Breath of Fire 4 (GOG) (Thanks ImLinguin).
  • Fixes added for Star Citizen (Thanks mactan-sc).
  • Fix added for Yosumin (Thanks UsernamesAreNotMyThing).
  • Fix added for DOOM 2016 (GOG) (Thanks ImLinguin).
  • Fix added for Lord of the Rings Online (thanks mdmatthias/MathiasDillain).
  • Fix added for Once Human (Thanks jcdickinson).
  • Fix added for Shadows of Adam (Thanks UsernamesAreNotMyThing).
  • Save import fix added for Metaphor ReFantazio (Thanks UsernamesAreNotMyThing).
  • Save import fix added for Persona 3 Reload (Thanks UsernamesAreNotMyThing).
  • Fix added for Liminal Border Part III (thanks R1kaB3rN).
  • Fix added for Mojika Truth Rears Its Head (thanks superboo7).

There's a number of known issues with Wine on Wayland outlined in the release post, that I suggest you read if you were wanting to try the newer Wayland support.

Often with such a major update we end up seeing a few Hotfix builds after, so keep that in mind this may come with new issues.

I was hoping that would be the case, glad it's there in GE at least to mess around with.

I wish it would say what the fixes are, or link to a page or something...? I'm playing Oblivion so would like to know what this means

You can follow the github link. Find the protonfixes part, find the steam fix for the game and follow the python files to where it leads. I guess maybe that's not for everyone.

It seems to enable modding.
