Storm's Brewing is the newest update for the zombie survival game 7 Days to Die, and it's one that really changes the game.

One of the highlight changes is the new Dynamic Storm System. This replaces the old weather system with one that is a lot more menacing across five different types of storms, but four of them are in specific biomes only. There's also a new Biome Progression system that have unique environment hazards to overcome. Biomes were also tweaked for their resources, giving you more of a reason to explore each of them for ore.

A whole lot more is new including an update to the Navezgane map, two new special infect zombies, zombie spawn improvements, the perks system has seen a bit of an overhaul, plus various optimizations for trees and foliage.

There's also been a big expansion to the point of interest system, with around 140 new places to explore.

On top of that there's new Discord integration, cross-play for dedicated servers, more footstep audio variety, new perk sounds, NVIDIA DLSS upscaling support has been added and so on.

"last played Dec 20, 2014" emoji Damn you backlog! I can't even remember it.

It looks super complicated and hard but at least there are options according to the video. I don't like too hard a challenge and anything too frenetic. How do you all rate this game?

I've been meaning to try the update. But I don't think it's going to do me any favours with regards to the temperature in my room.

It has its number of fans, for sure. I'm not one of them though. I would call it "The Extensively Boring And Tedious inventory Management Simulator". I'm no stranger to survival games where you have these inventories to deal with a lot (like maybe Rust or The Long Dark/etc), but this one takes the cake, at least that's what I felt.
After many hours of playing I realize I've spent most of the time micromanaging the inventory, rather than doing something actually interesting. Maybe it gets better, but after around 20 Hrs of staring at freakishly small boxes (and text) with myriads of crap to move around, well, I gave up.
Likely I approached the game wrong or whatever, but yeah it does feel too "super complicated" for my taste.

At 1,177 hrs, it's at the top of my list for time according to Steam. I actually played in the pre-steam days too so it's probably more like 1,800-2,000ish. Second to this one is Conan Exiles. I love the building in both games even though they're very different and serve different purposes. The great thing about both games is that you can tweak tons of settings related to both grinding and difficulty. That's really the key for replayability to me and what keeps me coming back - I can try out new features or just new runs without wasting too much time grinding. I would recommend default settings for both games the first time through, however.

I think these changes will actually make the game more approachable with a smoother (slower) progression. I also like how they're giving each biome more purpose now with the loot stages and resource availability. Overall, I think they've been doing a great job of making the early game easy and the late game hard with a nice progression along the way.

I would say there's hard aspects to the game but you're not really forced into them and can take on those challenges whenever you feel ready...or not.

I used mods for larger inventory/boxes, increased stack sizes etc, as yes, the inventory management sucks.
(many games are like that btw)

I've got over 4,000 hrs played, and stopped 2 years ago after they brought in their Twitch Integration, and
killed the Mischief Maker mod. (dmca'd and changed the eula) Now their latest set of EULA changes..
Nope!

I still don't (and won't) recommend the game due to their actions.

I watched the video and ... dunno. They changed a lot from the last alpha/beta (it's STILL pre-release software
no matter whether they call it 1.0/2.0 ... says so in the game) First time that old saves are flat out busted too.

The "storms" .. ok, what is the POINT of it? Biome locking I do get. (some hate it, but it makes sense)

More bullet sponge zombies? meh. Go through 1 block openings? some should, the big fat ones, no. (that would make sense)

Horse armor DLC? bwhahahahahaha! Git stuffed.

(ok, the always on stun rod.... THAT would be amusing, I'll grant that)
