Bubbits is "next generation" bubble shooter puzzle game that has a demo available that's really worth a look if you have a competitive side. It has a Native Linux version that appears to work beautifully.

It has a nice mixture of game modes too. You can play solo across a campaign or do some daily challenges, go head to head against friends in a 2-4 player versus mode and there's even a 25 player online battle royale mode. After trying it out, I have to admit, I like it a lot. I'm apparently terrible at it too, losing every match I attempted in the battle royale mode but it has that sweet simple hook to keep you wanting more with the clean gameplay.

Earlier in June it had a big demo update too.

The developer mentioned they've gradually worked on it over 5 years, and it will be free to play when it's released as they "love the idea that everybody who likes Puzzle games will have free access to Bubbits".

As for monetization they plan to have optional customizations you can purchase with a premium currency and they mentioned they will "pledge to always do my very best to ensure, that there will be no pay to win in Bubbits ever". There will be some different types of cannons available but these are not better than the others the dev said "they just play different".

Bubbits is planned to release in Early Access sometime later this year in Q3 - Q4.
