You have to hand it to indie devs, they sure do keep coming up with weird and wonderful looking games. The next game from the developer of the popular Buckshot Roulette is called s.p.l.i.t and it sounds rather strange.

What is it? A short psychological horror game that thrusts players into the dark, cloying world of cyber-crime as they attempt to hack and gain root access to an unethical superstructure. The game continues with the dystopian, low-fi tech visual identity from Buckshot Roulette, that does make me wonder if perhaps it's part of the same universe.

The focus of it is on terminal hacking with various commands to interface with this facility, while you chat with other technicians to plan and execute a devastating malware attack.

Regardless of the outcome, this story won't be told for decades. Will you hold up your end?

Highlights:

  • First person gameplay with diegetic & immersive UI.
  • An IRC chat where you gain intel, and learn more about the facility.
  • A terminal where you run software, navigate directories, and execute commands.
  • Detailed command prompt hacking puzzles with an emphasis on traditional inputs.
  • Original soundtrack.

It's confirmed to be launching with Linux and SteamOS support on July 24th.

In a sea of AAA path-traced puddles and that are a mile wide but an inch deep, dare to be the indie PS1-style, low-poly marvel: quirky, bold and unforgettable. A big "Thank you!" to these indie video game artists, for they the future of gaming! Shine on, you crazy diamond!

Shine on, you crazy diamond!

All these years, and I never realized the comma was there. I always heard it as "shine on you, crazy diamond", which didn't make any sense lol.

Thank you for this!
