SuperWEIRD is a co-op mixture of automation, tower defense and adventuring

SuperWEIRD is the next planned game from developers Luden.io, merging together a few different genres into something thoroughly odd.

Even the developer is confused about it. As they said: "We want to cross tower-defense gameplay with co-op and automation, and see what comes out of this mix. You find yourself in a place that's obviously broken. The local store is closed, the robots are malfunctioning, and there are occasional golem attacks in the wilderness. This all sounds SuperWEIRD, so... Good luck?"

In the game you will open up your own store, and then gather resources to craft goods to sell to the locals. While also fending off thieving robots. The developer previously made while True: learn(), Craftomation 101 and Learning Factory so of course there's a little programming involved with helper bots (but all simple - no coding skills required they say).

Highlights:

  • Use flags to mark paths for an endless stream of mindless robots.
  • Make them harvest resources and craft stuff for you.
  • Arm your robots, or even better: make robots arm other robots.
  • Build and optimize huge and complex systems of robots.
  • Play with friends in co-op mode to make things better… or much worse.
  • Outsmart the madness.

Partly educational too. It's being developed in partnership with Carina Initiatives, a nonprofit philanthropic foundation working on building a deep and connected math talent ecosystem.
