After recently receiving a DMCA takedown notice, Old School Rally had its Steam store page removed. Valve have now restored it and work on it continues.

In the Steam announcement the developer said "We’re happy to share that after a thorough review by Valve's DMCA team, Old School Rally is now back online!" and that "The development team has been hard at work behind the scenes, already replacing two of the affected models, with three more set to return within the next 24 hours. We aim to bring all the missing cars back into the game with entirely new, original models over the next 3–4 weeks, minimizing disruptions to the rally experience".

Nice to see the situation has been resolved. An annoying and messy situation for all involved from the developer to gamers interested in picking it up.

Interesting. I would assume the DMCA came from a manufacturer of some of the obviously-identifiable-but-unlicensed car models, but instead it came from someone who copied a design of some car, and who thought that a model of someone else who copied a design of the same car was his own. emoji emoji

Good. I'm usually not a fan of racing games, but that one looks like something I might enjoy after it leaves Early Access status.

It looks like they had that part of it covered from the beginning.

"During the early stages of development, Sakis legally sourced certain car models under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0) license from Sketchfab, a trusted and reputable online model database."
