Relic Entertainment have announced that Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Definitive Edition is set for release on August 14th. Hopefully it will see a better reception than the recently released Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine - Master Crafted Edition, which is currently on Mostly Negative on the Steam user reviews.
At release it will cost $29.99, with a 30% discount if you own the Anniversary Edition.
See the new trailer below:

The developer has mentioned there will be no new content or post-launch DLC, as their focus is on "delivering the ultimate Dawn of War experience" to have everything from the original. As for multiplayer, they're aiming to keep everything mostly the same there apart from "fixing some of the most egregious legacy bugs that should help improve the multiplayer experience". However, they've also said "not all legacy bugs will be addressed for launch" and they're already planned updates at release.
They also have a Bluesky account you can follow too.
Will you be buying it?
Sad...

I would like to see these features in this release:
- LAN multiplayer
- Modding support (all the mods done for the game are hacks as there wasn't any official mod support at that time)
- All the DLC bundled together
- Price similar to the [Anniversary edition](https://store.steampowered.com/app/4570/Warhammer_40000_Dawn_of_War__Anniversary_Edition/) or lower (looking at Anniversary edition, that is actually a definitive edition, so I'm not sure why we need another one)
- Don't want to see old games removed from stores, because of this

Let's wait and see. I'm guessing this will get panned just because of the pricing. It's high for what's essentially a patch to get the games to... function properly and without workarounds.

They made it seem like there has been some development done (an account system and some extras was what they advertised, I think), but I never saw any of that actually... work. This kind of seems like it was supposed to be what they're releasing in August, but they failed implementing it back then? If Relic explained it I haven't seen it. Really bizarre.

(looking at Anniversary edition, that is actually a definitive edition, so I'm not sure why we need another one)Well there is definitely still much to be deserved.
Anniversary edition does not have high-res textures and it still does not support higher resolutions(!).
That's my favourite game intro of all time. The original, I mean. Why did they have to mess up the audio, can't be that hard to simply not touch it.Which audio / where?
;)
Which audio / where?
The quotes weren't in the original intro and they sound like they shouldn't even be in the cinematic. It is really distracting.
Ok they added some lines from the in game units, but they left the fundamental part untouched. (i.e. the disarmed ork that throws a rock at the sergent at the end)
