Got the need for speed? CarX Street released an update just as the weekend hit to add in full Native Linux and Steam Deck support.

The game uses Easy Anti-Cheat and it was already enabled for Proton, where Valve gave it a Steam Deck Playable rating. As we noted on our GamingOnLinux Anti-Cheat Page. The developer said they expect it to now get the full green Verified tick soon. It also has a dedicated Steam Deck graphics preset and optimizations for it.

Some colourful reviews from players, including the brilliant, "Touge races are so aids cause the AI ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ blatantly cheats, otherwise game is good" :-)

I'm glad that Linux and Steam Deck support has been officially added. Hopefully this will calm some of the naysayers. Added to my wishlist for a future Steam Sale.

It's nice to see more linux support. It'd be even better if it was possible to run the game in single player with having to install some anti-cheat solution, though. I've skipped a lot of game because of this specific point.

I know I'm a dying breed at this point, but I just want to enjoy either single player games, or play with a limited circle of friends. And neither of those warrants installing anything as intrusive as privileged, calling home solutions of any kind.

There are dozens of us. Dozens!

I think there are maybe, possibly, hundreds of us? I'm a single player too. Offline too if possible.

Afaik, native Linux version of Easy Anti Cheat is not kernel level.

Still intrusive, and still not welcome for single player games, or LAN with friends. Will skip this title; would have been interested otherwise.
But thank you everyone for including and discussing this information that is so important to dozens, nay hundreds, of us.

This looks like a good one to pick up in a Fanatical bundle a little down the road . . .

The second paragraph in the OP makes me want to buy it. Although, I do wholeheartedly agree with @Cley_Fey ....

I wonder why they can't offer two versions to install. One that is offline other than LAN without any weird anti-cheat stuff and one that has online multiplayer functions with EAC.

It seems like it would be easy for devs to build+ship a "vanilla version". They ought to consider that from the very beginning and make it standard practice! While I am against the notion of anything potentionally intrusive, I also realize that there are too many people and bots out there aiming to exploit only for self-gain.

...CarX Street might be the first commercially-shipped Linux-native game to use Epic Online Services' Easy Anti-Cheat?

Not quite, if the GOL Anticheat page Liam linked to is to be believed. 7 Days to Die has been out for a good while with Linux native Easy Anti-Cheat. And Mini Royale is in Early Access, not sure if you count that as "commercially shipped".

I don't know. The game ran horribly on an OLED Deck and on my high-end main rig, so I did refunded it. I wonder if that would change the performance decently...

I wonder why they can't offer two versions to install.

Because that would give potential adversaries the opportunity to diff the versions to identify circumvention strategies. It's the same reason you get free demos coming with fairly brutal copy-protections.
