In a world overrun by craft beer enthusiasts and their endless creative brews, one grumpy guy is still on a quest to find one thing: a regular, basic pilsner. Dude, Where Is My Beer? A New Hop is a sequel to Dude, Where Is My Beer? from 2020.

More about it: "An evil Master Brewer has banned pilsner and is hunting down all who dare to drink it. But our mustachioed hero has a plan: enter a brewing contest to bring it back. Along the way, he’ll need to gather brewing ingredients, find the right equipment, and even team up with the rebels in “The Pilsner Front.” Can you defeat the IPA regime and bring pilsner to the world once again?

A New Hop sees the return of the much-loved nostalgic point-and-click gameplay, gorgeous comic stylings, charming sense of humour, and of course the warm embrace of an imminent bar crawl through Oslo’s streets to defeat an evil brewer of beverages that are NOT pilsners. Are you up for a legendary night out in Norway?"

The announcement came with the launch of a demo you can try right now on Steam. Check out the trailer:

We've had a beer-cartel here in Switzerland from 1935 to 1991. During that time, it was only possible to take over other breweries to increase your market share, which lead to condense 530 breweries down to 34. Which were only allowed to brew 4 kinds of beers, all of them bottom-fermenting and basically all lager and pils (which are very similar anyway).

So, we've been fucking tormented by the pils-mandating assholes for decades, had them kill most Swiss breweries and just about every older style of beer we've ever had.

So I'd guess this game is something for boomers who were never allowed to develop a taste in beer.

Hey, Seegras. Just so you know, my game is meant as a lighthearted satire about beer culture. I’m a huge craft beer fan myself, and it’s all in good fun, poking fun at everyone’s tastes, including IPAs and pilsners. emoji

Even if our dude does find a pilsner, he'll only be able to afford one emoji

I live this game weekly. A local shop has tons of beer choices from all the lousy American brands, a bunch of imports and a whole lot of microbrew IPAs, each of which seems to be competing to be the most hoppy and hazy. I think they carry only three Pilsners, one of which for unknown reasons is brewed with lime. I keep hunting for new ones.

I'll definitely give the demo a go.

I've heard that if you try to order a coffee in Australia they try to give you beer instead.
