Monsters are Coming! Rock & Road has just planted itself right at the top of my wishlist for the excellent combination of survivor-likes with tower defense. Seriously, this is one you do not want to miss, and there's a demo available to play on Steam right now.

A glorious mixture of survivor-like bullet heaven gameplay popularised by Vampire Survivors, with you protecting a constantly moving town hall so it has a tower defense game mixed into it. As you progress through your run and level up, you get to place down more towers to expand this always moving structure.

You're not just running around taking out monsters helping your tower though, you're also gathering resources as quickly as you can and removing roadblocks in the way of your little town. There's a lot of moving parts to this one to ensure your focus is firmly suckered in by it.

Really challenging with enemies coming from all directions, especially with various types of loot you can go and grab, so you're constantly weighing up which direction to run to take down a few enemies and gather loot and resources, while then making a mad dash back to protect your town.

It's properly unique and clever and it's wrapped up in a neat dark style that really does look fantastic. The rocking tunes are pretty sweet too, although a bit repetitive and that's about the only downside of note to this one.

Easily one of the best demos I've played this year and I think you're going to love this mixture. The game works to perfection on Linux with Proton 9.0-4.
