Just a reminder that thanks to EA's latest anti-cheat, the launch of Battlefield 6 today will be unplayable on any Linux system. This is because of EA Javelin anticheat, which was previously just called EA anticheat before being rebranded.
Unfortunately it's the same for the likes of the recent release of skate., various other Battlefield titles, EA Sports FC, EA Sports Madden, EA Sports WRC and any other modern game that has an online mode from EA will remain unplayable thanks to EA Javelin anticheat. As listed on our dedicated ant-cheat page, there's simply no workaround for it and no solution until the day Linux / SteamOS gain enough market share that it cannot be ignored.

You can get Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4 working though with our guide, since they use older tech. We also have a dedicated ongoing guide of game alternatives for Linux platforms that might help.
Another alternative is NVIDIA GeForce NOW, which can be played in the browser on Linux (lower quality) and a dedicated Steam Deck application. NVIDIA recently announced GeForce NOW is ready for Battlefield 6 and it will have the newer GeForce RTX 5080 servers compatibility too for even better quality overall.
Perhaps one day we might see Valve introduce a newer and more improved anti-cheat themselves with full Linux support, that could end up being another solution. Although, it would need to be cross-platform for it to pull in more developers too.
In related news, Electronic Arts (EA) was recently sold off to investors including Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund.
Me: "EA is not getting my money."
*mic drop*
But then despite the cheaters, also the performance of every item in your home gaming system - Your gaming mouse, your gaming keyboard, graphics card, processor, high performance RAM, low ping fibre internet connection - All those things *also* affect how well you are able to compete against other PVP players.
Then, something I'd level at the Rust game - No-Lifers - People who don't have a life outside of spending hours and hours grinding away to build the biggest base, get the most *boom*, and literally beat other players because of time spent in game.
It is practically pointless to play PVP games unless you are on a level-footing with the other competitors. And how can that ever be the case, unless you are playing in a DOOM LAN Party on duplicate systems.

In ye good olde times, I chose a server of friendly people (unknown to me) playing as mediocre as me and had quite some fun. Early CoD times, that was. Stopped playing FPS when server browsing was abandoned.
Just want to double down on the last line item in the article: EA is now owned by some of the most horrifyingly disgusting human beings on the planet, so should be avoided at all costs.
On the plus side it will probably not be long before it ends up asset stripped by a private equity firm.
