Do you like single-player RTS games with a proper narrative to go with it? You may want to keep a close eye on the upcoming Crimson Freedom. The developer has just announced it with a gameplay reveal to show it off, and it looks promising.

Set on 22nd-century Mars, the game follows the struggle of different ideologies battling for supremacy over the red planet and the future of humanity. Their aim with it is to revive "the golden age of RTS, combining sophisticated base building, complex army composition, and vital resource control, but enhances them with a modern user experience and thoughtful innovations". Coming with three factions each with unique units, tech and strengths.

A single-player first game with what is planned to have "25+ hours" of gameplay during the campaign, with another planned "15+" hours in an update after release. It will also have skirmish battles and they're planning on 1v1 online multiplayer too.

They said a demo should hopefully be up in December.

“We built Crimson Freedom to be the RTS we always wanted to play, a deep strategy game with a story worth uncovering,” said Marko Gardijan, Game Producer at Yboga Studios. “Each campaign offers a radically different perspective on the struggle for humanity's future. You’re not just building armies, you’re exploring the moral gray area of the red planet, and the choices and failures of humanity.”

All sounds promising, and graphically looks pretty good too. With this sort of RTS being a favourite, I'm looking forward to giving it a try.
