For anyone interested in the ongoing saga of Hytale, the good news is that the game has been saved, with Hytale Studios acquiring it from Riot Games.
What is it? Hytale blends the freedom of a sandbox with the momentum of an RPG: explore a procedurally generated world full of dungeons, secrets, and a variety of creatures, then shape it block by block. Riot purchased the studio back in 2020, and then in June 2025 announced the cancellation of it. Now, it's back!

As detailed in a news post they explained how they've managed to rehire "more than 30" developers who were previously working on the game, with them hoping to bring back even more and all while being "fully independent and personally committed to funding Hytale for the next 10 years".
The too long / didn't read from the blog post (they included this themselves):
- Early access date: To be announced in the coming days
- Platform: Windows at launch, Linux / Mac will be attempted, other platforms much later
- Pricing: Details to be announced in the coming days
- Early access state: Expect bugs, rough edges, unbalanced content, and frequent updates that break things
- Early access duration: Expected to last at least a few years; no rush to "1.0"
- Launch content: Exploration Mode, Creative Mode, and Modding
- Not at launch: Minigames and Adventure Mode (both come later; dedicated team for minigames)
- Ownership: We own 100% of Hytale (repurchased from Riot Games)
- Funding: 10-year personal funding commitment; no investors or publishers
- Game build: Using the previous engine from the trailer, enabling faster development and immediate playability
- Modding: Available at launch. Run your own servers and create custom content.
Pretty fun to see they will even attempt a Linux version too. Although, we do have Wine / Proton if they're unable to do it.
Nice to see some good news from the games industry.
On a completely unrelated note... It really is kinda terrifying that so much of the internet relies on Cloudflare not going down. Elune help us if Cloudflare ever does actually get hacked and taken down. 90% of the websites I visit did not work for at least 2 or 3 hours now.
