Hello GamingOnLinux readers! It's time again to open up the floor as they say so jump into the comments and give your latest recommendations.
I don't think I really need to talk much more about what I've been playing, because it's quite obviously ARC Raiders whenever I get the chance to. I now have somehow lost 45 hours of my life to this thing, to the point where I've been dreaming about running through it. How wild. This is also another great excuse to show off some more cool screenshots I took during my runs of it. You might have spotted the dance party me and a few other random groups had in the recent Proton Experimental update article too.
ARC Raiders is just screenshot bait quite often, it really does some fantastic things with lighting and world-building that I keep coming across things thinking "oooh cool!", and then bang — dead. Another raider comes over to take everything from me, although I went in with a free loadout. Hah, sucker! Enjoy your nothing!
Here's a few snaps a took recently:
Apologies to the partner, they had to buy a copy because I'm so hooked on it. But hah, now they are too!
ARC Raiders is doing some impressive numbers on Steam too, hitting an all-time peak player count of 462,488 recently. That's a lot, especially when you consider it's a multi-platform game. It's been beating the likes of Battlefield 6 and Rust, even coming pretty close to the constant player count of PUBG.
So, what have you been playing lately (and why isn't it ARC Raiders?).
Oh, and I've been playtesting the next major update for Project Silverfish.

(steam links)
- [Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2321470/Deep_Rock_Galactic_Survivor/)
[NGU Idle](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1147690/NGU_IDLE/)
[Hades I & II](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1145360/Hades/)
Lately I've been considering trying to find some kind of longer form game... like "World of Warcraft" but without being World of Warcraft? If that makes sense? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Rack'n'Slay, it was pretty cool.
Gris - while I appreciate the art style, the gameplay was pretty boring.

- Heretic + Hexen (only finished Heretic so far)
- No One Lives Forever
- Quake 2: Call of the Void add-on
- Expendable
- Giants: Citizen Kabuto
- Midnight Club 3 (PCSX2)
This month:
- Unreal 2: The Awakening (it's a lot more fun with doubled player speed)
- Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition (with Duke Nukem DLC)
- The Talos Principle 2
- Crysis Warhead (had to stop because it constantly crashes during gameplay, unfortunately)
- Ratchet & Clank 3 (PCSX2). I've already played this one when I was young, but it's fun to replay it ~20 years later.
Plus the usual rotation of "forever games": Trackmania, Smash Bros. Melee (Slippi), QuakeWorld, Toontown: Corporate Clash.
Patient gaming at its finest.

I haven't been playing ARC Raiders because I avoid games with invasive Client-Side Anti-Cheat (afaik it's userspace on Linux, but I don't want to support developers who use kernel anti-cheat).
* Guild Wars 2
* Serious Sam 2 & 4
* Elite: Dangerous
* X4: Foundations (this one surprised me; the secret is apparently disabling Volumetric Fog?)
* Factorio (I keep bouncing off it and keep trying anyway)
* Stardew Valley
* Starsector
I can't seem to sit on one game for very long at this time of year. But at least they're all working to my liking!
I started as an unlanded Adventurer in what is nowadays Korea. Bought a treasure map that took me all the way to the Black Sea. The treasure didn't amount to what I thought it would, but taking on contracts and visiting plenty of landmarks along the way still paid off. Upon return, I seduced one of the king's daughters, but failed to run away with her. After some time (and a few bastard children), a change in leadership allowed me to invite her to my camp, and after taking care of her betrothed, was finally able to marry her, in the hope that possible offspring inherits her claim to the kingdom. By now, I turned in some fame in exchange for an Estate, to actually experience more of the DLC content, but compared to life as an adventurer, attempting to climb the ranks of the Meritocracy is fairly boring. So I'm still hoping for plan A to come to fruition.
Sometimes doing meta or two in Guild Wars 2.
I intend to wrap up Super Robot Wars Y and Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter (the remake). After that, I'd like to give Elder Scrolls another shot. I played Skyrim briefly years ago, and I intend that revisit that. However, I'm going to start with Morrowind (using OpenMW), followed by Oblivion Remastered. I already had Oblivion in my library, but I heard the remastered version had several good QoL improvements.

So, what have you been playing lately (and why isn't it ARC Raiders?).
Because still no regional pricing in MENA, neither on Steam nor on Epic
So, what have you been playing lately (and why isn't it ARC Raiders?).I don't play online multiplayer games. Not my thing.
I have been modding and now playing a fully modded TES IV: Oblivion Classic/2006, with lots of OBSE mods that improve the QoL in the game.
(I'm not all that impressed by what I've seen of the remastered version, especially the character faces. They look worse than the original game's faces.)

[Elder Scrolls Online](https://store.steampowered.com/app/306130/The_Elder_Scrolls_Online/) - bought in a bundle. Deeply disappointing. Already un-installed.
[Monster Train 2](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2742830/Monster_Train_2/) - absolutely loving this. It's taken over from Noita right now as my "fill an hour" game.
[Biped](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1071870/Biped/) - silly two player co-op where each thumbstick on your gamepad controls your robot's leg. Quite fun. Hard.
[Gloomhaven](https://store.steampowered.com/app/780290/Gloomhaven/) - slow-paced adaptation of the tabletop version. Incredibly buggy, but quite fun.
[Path of Exile 2](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2694490/Path_of_Exile_2/) - with the new Abyssal League starting last month, I started a new character. Amazing game.
[Cataclismo](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1422440/Cataclismo/) - bought it on recommendation from friends, but really isn't my cup of tea. City builder / tower defence.
[Abiotic Factor](https://store.steampowered.com/app/427410/Abiotic_Factor/) - bought in the hope my friends would buy. But didn't recommend it, not their cup of tea. Not sure what the fuss is about on this one.
[Unrailed](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1016920/Unrailed/) - ancient co-op about building a railway through various biomes. Really hard, lots of fun!
[Orcs Must Die: Deathtrap](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2273980/Orcs_Must_Die_Deathtrap/) - basically a remake of Dungeon Defenders. It's great, 4-player co-op. Love it.
I've also got [Rage 2](https://store.steampowered.com/app/548570/RAGE_2/) and [Quake 4](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2210/Quake_4/) waiting in the wings from an earlier bundle I bought. And I managed to spend more time with [Moonsigil Atlas Demo](https://store.steampowered.com/app/3590810/Moonsigil_Atlas_Demo/), but not as much as I'd like.
All of this bought on sale, and in bundles, and still spent over £100 this month. Oof.
As for why I haven't played Ark Raiders yet; it looks fun, but I don't have any friends that are interested in trying it. I have played Tarkov a little in the past, so I would probably find it fun.
I also just finished the first Mass Effect. I wrote a lengthy piece on it elsewhere, but the bottom line is I have mixed feelings. Ultimately, I was more disappointed than impressed. I felt that the game did not fill out the outline it has drawn for itself at the start.
It's a very chill, cozy game about running a small late night cafe in a fantasy world.
Young Souls - Coop game I can play with my wife.
CHAOS;CHILD - VN for killing time
