AMD had plenty to reveal at CES 2026 with a bunch of new processors, including the new AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D as the "the fastest gaming processor on the market".

This new gaming processor built with Zen 5 and featuring second-generation AMD 3D V-Cache is claimed to have "up to 27% better gaming performance compared to the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K". Bringing 8 high-performance cores and 16 threads it sounds like quite a beast overall. AMD said systems with the Ryzen 7 9850X3D will arrive beginning Q1 2026.

AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D 8 C / 16 T Up to 5.6 / 4.7 GHz 104 MB 120W

They're also expanding the Ryzen AI Max+ series with two new chips combining Zen 5 cores with AMD Radeon™ 8060S series graphics and second-generation AMD XDNA NPUs. AMD said systems with the new AI Max+ series will be available beginning Q1 2026 from major OEM partners with more coming throughout the year.

And then there's all the new Ryzen AI 400 series and Ryzen AI PRO 400 Series processors too. Which AMD said will see systems arrive beginning Q1 2026, with desktops arriving later in Q2 2026. Here's all of them:

I have no doubt we'll see some handhelds get released with these chips eventually too. It's going to be an interesting year.

Why bother producing new CPUs when it's barely impossible to find DDR5 RAM?

AMD's worst product naming scheme ever. It's almost impossible to know what is what without looking at the specs.

Their naming scheme is literally shit. A best anything processor should be a 9 series. Part of why I didn't bother going from a Ryzen 9 5900X to a Ryzen 7 5800X3D was that it still felt like a downgrade going from a 9 down to a 7. Though it wasn't worth the time, effort, or money to "upgrade" like that anyways.

Dude where's the 9000G series APU?

So nothing about rumored Radeon 9080/9090, and not even Ryzen 9950x3d2? I'm in the middle of building a new PC now and I was really counting on them... For me it's the worst showcase in the last five years.

P.S. Before anyone asked: I got lucky to buy my RAM in advance around August 2025. So at least it is that, yea. Still sulking about the showcase.

:(.
