Mewgenics from Edmund McMillen and Tyler Glaiel is set for release on February 10th, and we have a fresh look at it in a new weird features trailer.

What the heck is it? Mewgenics is a roguelite about building up the ultimate cat army through tactical breeding and send them into deep, challenging turn-based adventures. Draft abilities, collect items, and manipulate genetics across generations. Considering who is behind the game there's a lot of excitement clawing for this.

Everything about it is a little bit strange, which we've come to expect from the creators of the likes of The Binding of Isaac, Super Meat Boy, Closure and The End Is Nigh.

Game Highlights:

  • 200+ hour main campaign
  • 10+ character classes with 75 unique abilities each
  • 900+ wild items
  • 200+ enemies and bosses
  • Roguelite progression: never experience the same game twice.
  • Choices at every turn. Money! Items!! And genes!! All matters.

It's probably going to suck away all of our time isn't it? Developer Tyler Glaiel even joked on Bluesky a few days ago that "YOU HAVE 2 WEEKS LEFT TO BE PRODUCTIVE".

Could easily be one of the biggest releases all year. I'm certainly looking forward to it.

Despite the game being teased for like, ever, I still have no idea what's in it aside from cat and that it comes from Edmund McMillen.

It's nice to hear it's coming along though. I'm definitely curious about anything he decides to put out.
