Valve have released the latest stable update for SteamOS version 3.7.19, bringing a bunch of bug fixes to improve the Linux gaming platform. It rolls up a few fixes from previous Betas, so everyone is good to go on upgrading to it.

Here's all that's changed:

General

  • Fixed a regression with Game Recording where the video feed would stop partway through the clip.
  • Fixed the performance overlay sometimes showing zero for CPU power draw.
  • Fixed audio not always switching to/from 3.5mm headphones correctly when inserted or removed.
  • Fixed a regression where certain in-game overlay UI elements could cause a frame time drop upon appearing.
  • Fixed the frame limiter interacting badly with VRR after an extended period.
  • Fixed an issue where Forza Horizon 4 and Forza Horizon 5 would only display a blank window.

SteamOS is only currently officially supported across the Steam Deck, Legion Go S and the upcoming SteamOS version of the Legion Go 2. However, Valve are beginning to add support for more handhelds over time so you can try to install SteamOS on anything right now. Although, you're likely better off with Bazzite.

Is anyone else having issues with source engine games on steam deck lcd?

Unless with HL2 I have shader detail set to 'low' it will just crash

L4D2 crashes if effects aren't set to 'low'

And Portal crashes if shadow detail isn't set to 'low'

Anything higher then low on these specific settings seems to make them crash, also l4d2 still crashed when set to proton (tried various versions)
