Deadlock is an online-only third-person MOBA currently in development by Valve, and they just released a massive upgrade for the game.
It's still invite-only, but I'm sure you can find someone who has a copy quite easily by now. Even with it being locked behind invites, it has still been seeing nearly 30,000 peak concurrent players each day. And of course, this update has boosted that quite a lot.
As for the Old Gods New Blood update it brings with it overhauled Patrons (what you have to defeat to win a game) and bases, six new heroes, a new fast-paced game mode called "Street Brawl", HUD updates, a revamped post-game with an MVP screen and more.
This new Street Brawl mode cuts the game down into quick 4v4 battles across a number of rounds, with everything about it streamlined. You get a randomised set of upgrades to pick from, and then both teams battle through a single lane in the map. I've played a bit of it and it's just complete chaos.
Plenty of upgrades went into the UI for this update including a rework of settings, reactive player portraits, kill streaks, improved damage indicators, an updated scoreboard, objective health-bars and new accessibility options. There's also anticheat improvements, improved NPC AI, performance improvements and much more.
Sounds like a lot of work towards cleaning it up to actually release it. I imagine sometime this year it will open up properly for everyone. Currently it's only playable on Linux with Proton.
See all on the special update page.
