Frostrail is another exciting game to keep an eye on, an open-world survival game where you and friends travel through a frozen world on a train. Snowpiercer is that you?
The train is your only refuge in this now frozen world. You need to scavenge various locations including underground bunkers and ice-covered settlements for resources to keep it fuelled up, and keep upgrading it into your own mobile fortress to survive for longer as you try to stay warm. Playable solo or online co-op, you might need the help with various hungry "Revenants" roaming around.
Definitely one I'm curious to learn more about. What exactly happened to the world? The developers explained that some Emperor made a "pact with the Void", and unleashed the frozen hell along with various "relentless revenants and eldritch horrors" - sounds interesting. I do hope there's plenty of lore to find on your travels. This is high up on my wishlist.
During IGN Fan Fest a brand new gameplay trailer was shown off, watch it below:

From the press release: “Since revealing Frostrail last year, we’ve pushed every aspect of the game further,” said Ez Jämsen, Lead Designer at FakeFish. “This trailer highlights the core loop of scavenging, brutal combat, and upgrading your train, along with a stronger, more refined art direction featuring new environments and weapon models that deepen the atmosphere of desolation. Survival won’t come easy when Frostrail launches in Early Access later this year.“
As a reminder on Linux support, their previous FAQ stated:
Will Frostrail be MacOs/Linux compatible?
One of our developers is primarily working on Linux, and we are eager to open Frostrail to the Linux gaming community. So that’s a tentative yes at this point at least for Linux. Our number one priority is making the PC version smooth and stable for Early Access release, and Linux/Mac support is also kept in mind every step of the way. However, we can only fully confirm support for these OS upon release.
So it may have Native Linux support, it may not. Either way it will likely run with Proton.
