Wine 11.2 is the latest development release of the Windows compatibility layer towards Wine 12 early next year. This is part of the secret sauce that gets Valve's Proton to run so many Windows games on SteamOS / Linux.
In the release notes the highlights are:
- More optimizations in PDB loading.
- Support for MSVC constructors in C runtime.
- Easier mechanism for creating version resources.
- Various bug fixes.
Sounds like some of those changes will be quite helpful for debugging issues.
They noted bug fixes for the likes of Black Mirror (2017), King of Dragon Pass, Futuremark 3DMark Vantage,
A New Beginning, The Night of the Rabbit, The Hong Kong Massacre, Sam & Max Save the World, Might & Magic: Heroes VII Editor, osu!, Divinity II: Developer's Cut, GTA: San andreas/Vice City, Gothic 1 and more.
